US FIGHTER PILOTS TRAINING ASSISTED BY ZANDAR FUSIONPRO MULTIVIEWERS

February 1st 2005

Dublin, 1 February, 2005 - Zandar FusionPro MultiViewers have been installed in the 115 Fighter Wing of the United States Air Force, at Truax Field in Madison, Wisconsin. The training facilities are being used for tactical training exercises for F-16 fighter pilots. The installation was completed in 2004.

The Zandar FusionPro MultiViewer is a display processor which renders multiple video and computer graphics to high resolution displays. Image resolutions of up to SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixels) achieve pristine image quality through a flexible combination of source input format options, an advanced video processing engine and dynamic phase adjustment for accurate pixel mapping, critical for applications such as aircraft training.

With the integration of the Zandar equipment, pilots are able to view a whole sequence of different images and scenes from cockpit simulations to tactical in-air and combat scenarios. Images are displayed on four plasma colour monitors.

JAM Electronics, Inc. was contracted by IDL Solutions, a provider of audio visual solutions for government and military command centers, to deliver a challenging new multi-source display system. For this installation, IDL Solutions relied solely on the expertise of JAM Electronics system integration and product selection to create a turnkey solution for the 115 Fighter Wing.

Michael Spalding of JAM Electronics comments, “The US Air Force needed a solution that would allow the viewing of all sources at any time on any of the four plasma displays in either room. They also preferred to select combinations of sources at random on any of the displays. The Zandar product line has once again maintained seamless integration within our configuration. By incorporating an Extron Matrix Switcher as the final destination of all the sources, we were able to send the multi-window layouts from the Zandar FusionPro in many different configurations.”

He adds, “As a systems integrator in a high technology sector, our clients always expect leading edge solutions. The Zandar FusionPro units were chosen because of the high picture quality. They also gave us the flexibility needed on a project of this importance and are very easy to operate and customize for integration with other RS232 control systems, such as the CUE touch control system”.

Deirdre Smith, CEO of Zandar Technologies states, “The pilots, who are amongst the world elite, rely on the very best technologies to carry out their challenging roles and Zandar is an integral part of their vital training equipment. Once again Zandar products have proven to be prime choice in MultiViewer systems with the United States Air Force F-16 pilots amongst its extensive list of discerning clients.”
