ZANDAR AND JVC IN COMMAND AT STATE-OF-THE-ART CCTV MONITORING
INSTALLATION
November 11th 2004
With the ever-increasing need for high resolution images and clarity
of video pictures, the applications for broadcast quality technology
become more diverse. Recent studies have shown that CCTV systems
have proven to be a big asset in the reduction of crime and a major
factor in their success is the quality of images. Zandar MultiViewer
equipment has been selected for a new state of the art, new high-resolution
CCTV monitoring system recently installed by JVC.
Warrington Borough Council required a cutting-edge control room
facility to improve local surveillance and replace ageing CCTV monitoring
feeds undertaken from an outdated control room within Warrington
's police headquarters. They decided to build a new 24-hour security
monitoring control room facility to improve their continued commitment
to combat crime. Central to this new facility is a command wall
system which uses a Zandar MultiViewer system displaying real-time
multi image views of pictures captured from all over the borough.
This technology enables users, with the simple click of a button
on any area selected on the screen, to easily view all of the security
cameras in that area. User macros have also been set up, enabling
a group of cameras to be selected in specific areas of the borough,
such as all of the popular nightspots in the town centre, in order
to monitor the cluster of cameras in that location. Images displayed
are recorded and archived using digital storage.
Faber Maunsell who designed and planned the state-of-the-art new
facility commented "There are obvious technical benefits to
using the command wall system. It reduces the power consumption,
reduces the air conditioning requirements and offers flexibility
for the future control room and security monitoring expansions,"
adding, "Setup is simple and straight forward and the improved
flexibility that projection offers provides major expansion benefits
over a traditional monitor wall. All that you need to do is turn
it on and that's so much more efficient than a wall of monitors.
Michelle Ryall, JVC’s northern Area Sales manager, outlines
the benefits of command wall monitoring, “The images produced
by JVC’s projector are of a high resolution SXGA plus display
and, when output to the CinePro screens, are comfortably viewable
and very visible even in high ambient light conditions, making them
the ideal solution for security monitoring.”
Increasingly, multi image viewers are recognised as a more versatile
alternative to the traditional video wall displays. Zandar Technologies
envisioned this trend some time ago and have been the leading technology
innovator and pioneer in MultiViewer systems with users worldwide.
The company provides a range of MultiViewer solutions for broadcast
TV, surveillance and CCTV systems. Zandar MultiViewers can drive
video displays or high resolution displays, such as the JVC SX21
projector and plasma or LCD monitors. According to Deirdre Smith
, CEO of Zandar Technologies, "the flexibility of the Zandar
MultiViewer enabled the system designers to concentrate on their
prime objectives. We simply provided the means to combine, view
and manipulate the various sources they needed to monitor".
The Zandar MultiViewer was supplied by UK distributor e-mediavision.com
who provided applications expertise and after sales support on this
important project. Once again JVC and Zandar Technologies fulfil
customer requirement by combining their “best–of–breed”
products to derive an optimal solution with future expansion capabilities.
