Dublin, Ireland – Nine FusionPro 1RU MultiViewers
were recently installed in the Harpo Oprah Winfrey Studios in Chicago.
The installation was managed by the Sony engineering project team
which was lead by Randy Silverman.
The Studio is responsible for the complete origination, production,
editing and transmission of the nationally seen talk show, Oprah,
reaching millions worldwide. The Fusions are used in conjunction
with Sony Tape machines and Thompson routers to monitor more than
100+ sources available to the Segment Editors, during creation and
"fix-up" of segments that will be incorporated into the
show.
According to Randy Silverman, Senior Systems Engineering with Sony
Systems Integration, "we selected this scheme to make better
use of the existing space by eliminating a traditional monitor wall
and using that space to allow for an assistant editor to support
and speed-up the time spent on each segment of the show". Silverman
continued "the PC application and simple serial control gives
both the editors and producers fast management of the screen display
on each of the MultiViewers". "Zandar were selected for
this project because Harpo had previous experience with Zandar's
earlier versions of this product and were completed satisfied".
