1000TH DX MULTIVIEWER DELIVERED AT IBC 2004
September 2nd 2004
BBC Technology will take delivery of the 1000th DX Series Zandar
MultiViewer at IBC 2004. The product will be used in BBC Technologys
Digital Operation Centre (DOC) at BBC Television Centre, to monitor
video and audio transmission services, 24 hours per day.
The Zandar DX Series equipment has the ability to detect loss of
signal presence, amongst many other attributes. In the event of
disturbance to transmission services, the DX units trigger GPI alarms
that interface with BBC Technologys Colledia Control
system in the DOC, alerting staff to potential transmission problems.
This then enables them to take corrective action, thereby minimising
any potential interruption to service. Having on-board, integrated
signal detection and alarms negates the need for external devices,
simplifying installation and monitoring and reducing cost.
The system GPI alarms are user configurable for loss of sync, black
screen, and frozen image, whilst audio warnings are generated for
loss of audio, carrier loss, over level and out of phase. There
are also optional in picture alarm status indicators, complimenting
the GPI triggers. The embedded audio handling facility provides
real time monitoring of audio levels with in-vision bargraphs and
VU metering, adding flexibility and functionality.
The order was placed by Leeds based UK systems integrators AVC.
