WORLD'S LEADING BROADCAST CHOOSE ZANDAR DX MULTIVIEWERS AGAIN
September 1st 2004
Zandars MultiViewers are proving to be a popular choice
amongst broadcast users worldwide. With over 1000 DX series products
shipped to date, this product line has proven to be the work horse
of control rooms in TV stations, OB trucks and at major global events
such as the recent Athens Olympics.
During IBC 2004 BBC Technology took delivery of the 1000th DX Series
unit following installations in every corner of the globe - from
the Caribbean to Korea . Some of the biggest customers include US
broadcasters Turner Broadcast Networks and Discovery Communications,
Latin American broadcasters TV Globo, DirecTV Latin America, Star
TV in Hong Kong, TV-8 in Singapore and leading European HDTV OB
operator, Alfacam, as well as Europes largest satellite broadcaster
BSkyB in the UK. Network operators such as BT (British Telecom)
and EBU (European Broadcasting Union), like many others, rely on
Zandar equipment 24/7 to view signals that are a vital part of their
fabric and technical infrastructure.
The scale of DX installations does not come much bigger than Turner
Broadcast Systems Inc who have 44 units monitoring in total 704
feeds at its headquarters in Atlanta Georgia , whilst smaller, diverse
applications include TV-8 in Singapore who use the DXs to display
contestants in a game-show.
With a backdrop of two years of quiet markets, a slow business environment
and increasing competition it is no mean feat to establish these
products at the core of broadcast operations worldwide. Evolving
from its earlier MX Series, the first DX MultiViewers shipped at
the end of 2001. Quietly listening to user feedback and anticipating
the demand for multi image, multi channel monitoring, Zandar developed
a product that was the first MultiViewer to incorporate auto-sensing
inputs, negating the need for different processors for analogue
and digital signal formats, allowing users to mix formats and reduce
costs in their migration to digital. It is also the smallest MultiViewer
on the market, processing 16 channels of monitoring in a highly
compact 1RU, drastically reducing installation costs for broadcasters.
Its popularity stems from its flexibility too with a range of output
options for the user - composite and component video, SDI and VGA.
The SDI embedded audio in picture monitoring function is a very
useful and cost effective way of monitoring up to 4 channels of
audio per input. This facility provides real time monitoring of
audio levels with in-vision bar graphs and VU metering, adding flexibility
and functionality.
Whilst the celebrations continue for this enormous achievement,
the companys own achievement as a whole is far greater since
it has a whole range of popular and successful video and audio monitoring
products which includes the Fusion, MX, OmniVideo and the new Predator
Series MultiViewers.
MultiViewers have truly come of age and Zandars pioneering
developments have delivered the functionality to the eyes of broadcasters
worldwide with resounding success.
