Zandar Multiviewers make
drama debut on "coronation street"!

Dublin, 21 August 2007 - Dublin,
Ireland, 21 August 2007 - Britain's
longest-running soap opera, Coronation Street, has upgraded its
Manchester studios, placing MultiViewers from Zandar Technologies at
the heart of the show's production process.
The upgraded facility,
known as Stage 2, comprises a suite of three galleries for
Production, Vision and Sound. In each of the first two, a Zandar
Predator HD12 MultiViewer is being used to feed a pair of 47-inch
LCD screens, taking feeds from the current SD cameras and VTRs. The
galleries are using Zandar's ZdHT Dual Head function, with the
12 inputs set up to be displayed and manipulated across both
screens.
In the Sound gallery,
a Zandar Fusion Pro+ 1RU is being used to also display sound level
bar graphs, against a traditional PPM scale, on a single 47-inch LCD
screen. Timecode information is used to include a clock display from
each of the Zandar units.
Zandar's Predator
HD12 is housed in a 2RU enclosure and can display up to 12 HD or SDI
sources in high resolution, and can be expanded to add 2-4 video or
computer inputs at a later date. The Fusion Pro+ 1RU is a highly
modular MultiViewer solution that can support up to eight scalable
windows. Both ranges can be programmed and controlled using
Zandar's Z-Configurator software.
The installation was
completed for ITV Productions in July 2007 by Leeds-based AVC
Electronics. AVC has a wide customer base of broadcasters including
the BBC and ITV companies, as well as TVNZ in New Zealand.

project engineer at AVC Electronics, comments: "In recommending

are also very cost-effective. Both Predator HD12 and FusionPro+
models have a common control system (Z-Configurator), which offers
the right level of facility for the job.

MultiViewers gives the programme makers much greater flexibility
than they had before, and the fact they can handle 1080i and 720p HD
formats also makes them future-proof."
