FusionPro 1RU MultiVewer systems are to be used by USA-based XM
Satellite Radio, the world's leading satellite radio company, at a
number of their US locations for the sophisticated digital signage and display of
multiple images including live video, audio and computer signals.
In
a project designed, installed and managed by specialist systems
integrator On Location Visuals, the Zandar
MultiViewers are employed at a number of the station's bases
throughout the
US
to accurately render multiple sources to high-resolution displays.
Two systems are installed in front of DJ booths at the JAZZ
station at Lincoln
Center
in Manhattan, New
York
while at the station's Washington
DC
headquarters, another unit drives the display in the lobby with a
further system scheduled for installation in the control room area.
The FusionPro 1RU MultiViewer system accepts 4 processing
cards, supporting up to 8 scalable windows.
In this installation, the FusionPro uses 4 scalable windows.
XM
Satellite Radio is an emerging force in broadcasting and is one of
two FCC licensees to deliver satellite radio programming. The
station delivers its coast-to-coast, digital-quality service with
more than 150 channels of music, news, talk, radio, sports, comedy
and children's programming across continental USA.
It is the largest digital radio facility of its kind with
more than 80 end-to-end fiber-optic programming and broadcast
studios at XM headquarters in the heart of Washington, DC.
In
both locations, the concept of the digital signage project was to
create an essential "wow" factor for any guests being brought
into the facilities to include directors, future investors and
potential employees such as DJs.
At the station's headquarters in Washington
DC,
the lobby set up is designed to show the inner workings of the
station. Meanwhile in New
York,
a transparent screen floats in front of the space-limited DJ booths
allowing the DJ to interactively select any item desired on the
screen.
The
Zandar
Remote Control Panel (ZRP) is used for single touch operation
selecting various presets and each DJ has their own presets which
can be calibrated. The
FusionPro MultiViewer feeds images into a Canon Realis SX50
projector at the display's native resolution of SXGA+ (1,400 x
1,050 pixels). The MultiViewer produces pristine image quality
achieved through a combination of 10 bit RGB outputs, an advanced
video processing engine and dynamic phase adjustment for accurate
pixel mapping.
The
digital signage is designed to be aesthetically pleasing, very
modern and open. "Information
and data using 4 video inputs into the
Zandar
MultiViewer can access when and how the operator wants it to be
displayed," explains Douglas Wurzbacher, Principal at On Location
Visuals.
"We went for
Zandar
because they have an extremely high quality product.
Their engineering team, based in Ireland, customises the product to integrate with individual projectors.
The project was completed on time and within budget.
Zandar
staff went out of their way to work unusual hours to optimize the
system so that performance is always at its best," adds Douglas
Wurzbacher.

FusionPro+ supports resolutions of up to WUXGA and
1080p, features enhanced layout editing software with the all new Z-Configurator
and has the ability to drive two displays as one virtual monitor

Dual Head (ZdH) facility.
