selects zandar for world's biggest mobile production centre

- In
what is understood to be the world’s biggest mobile HD production
centre, Euroscena SpA’s MPC34 HD incorporates a total of 54 Zandar
Predator HD8 MultiViewers for the processing, configuration and
display of multiple HD signals.

, the MPC34 HD was first revealed at the IBC 2007 show,
Amsterdam
in September 2007. Comprising
three units, including its own studio, the MPC34 HD has been
specifically designed for television production at a variety of
major Italian and International music and sporting events.

During the planning and installation
phases, the Zandar technical sales team were instrumental in
providing technical support to Euroscena. Peter Timmons, Technical Sales Specialist at Zandar explains:
“Our Predator HD8 MultiViewers certainly were put to the test
during an in-depth review period spanning three months. Their robust
design, native HD input processing and advanced features ensure that
the most pristine picture quality is produced.”
Inside the main gallery of the production
centre, up to 96 video sources including cameras, VTRs, slow motion
equipment, graphics and external feeds are monitored using Predator
HD8 MultiViewers. Source
layout is configured using a Quad split for display on LCD monitors. The vehicle has a separate production area and audio area in
which Predator HD MultiViewers are also featured.
Each Predator HD8 MultiViewer handles up to
8 SD or HD-SDI inputs and Euroscena operators can configure each
display using the intuitive and easy-to-use Z-Configurator layout
editing software. This
feature is beneficial to Euroscena when transitioning between
different events where the monitoring requirements differ. Here, the creation of templates is possible and the software
uses a simple drag and drop feature to quickly create and save new
layout sizes.
Ezio Bonfanti, Director of Engineering at
Euroscena explains how the decision was made to use Zandar. “The Zandar equipment is very competitive and provides an
outstanding performance. Zandar
ensured that all of our engineering requirements were met,
especially concerning picture fidelity and colour / black levels. The people at Zandar are very cooperative and helpful and got
back to us with any queries that we had. Since the installation, our operators have found the Predator
HD8 MultiViewers very easy to use.”
“Our MPC34 HD is specifically designed to
handle sporting and music events. In tennis championships, the vehicle will provide multiple
feeds from two or three courts and for soccer matches it will handle
both local and international feeds as well as the presenter’s
feeds. For rock
concerts, we can guarantee powerful coverage along with the
possibility of separate broadcast and digital cinema feeds. This is in addition to the lavishly designed VIP suites for
artists on the vehicle itself.”
