DUAL HEAD IS BETTER THAN ONE

December 1st 2005

Dublin, December 1st 2005  - Zandar Technologies announces the release of ZdHTM Zandar Dual Head Display, a powerful new market leading technology for MultiViewers, setting new standards with innovative functionality, flexibility, redundancy and cost savings for broadcasters worldwide.

MultiViewers typically combine many diverse inputs for display on a single large screen, thus replacing the traditional monitor stack with a virtual monitor wall. Display wall processors, on the other hand, take a few inputs and drive them across many displays for seamless views. Zandar's ZdHTM blurs the distinction providing an important and lower cost alternative for Master Control Rooms and Network Operation Centers.

Zandar's ZdH enabled MultiViewers combine support for multiple inputs, of any format, and in any combination, with the ability to drive two displays as one virtual monitor wall, seamlessly concocted and simply controlled. Any of the inputs, up to 26 on the FusionPro+, can be viewed on either display, including horizontally spanning the displays. This level of flexibility greatly empowers the monitor wall as an intelligent visual information display tool in critical monitoring applications.

ZdH provides another critical functional - display device redundancy. In the event of failure of one display, the operator can instantly re-route all channels to the remaining active display with no loss of function in the control room, by recalling a pre-loaded recovery configuration.

Across a range of application areas, ZdH brings benefits. When used to drive two displays independently, ZdH effectively provides two MultiViewers in one chassis, with consequent cost savings. Other savings can be made by using smaller, lower cost screens to achieve the same overall display real estate at a fraction of the price. For example, a 40" LCD is typically more than six times the cost of a 20" LCD. Zandar 's innovative ZdH technology allows broadcasters to use, for example, 2 x 20" LCDs instead of a 40" LCD therefore reducing capital equipment costs without loss of functionality or control. This is a very cost effective way to achieve portrait displays too.

The range of resolutions supported using ZdH includes the popular plasma, LCD and projection system resolutions. ZdH is enabled via software license and can be factory installed or provided as a field upgrade. Hence users can change the functionality of their MultiViewer as needs change for even greater flexibility.

ZdH is a major enhancement in output display management. It allows users to combine displays to create a video wall, driven by Zandar Predator or FusionPro+ MultiViewers and seamlessly controlled by Zandar 's Z-Configurator User Interface software. This innovative technology is another 'first' from Zandar and is set to become an essential part of all good monitoring systems.
